BELOW THE

SKYE LINE

Gill Williams and Geraint Ashton Jones are two photographers with years of experience in the industry. Based on the Isle of Skye, in March 2019 they started a collaborative project titled Below the Skye Line. Below the Skye Line was created with the aim of capturing the underwater environment, its inhabitants and the delicate eco system found in the waters on and around the Isle of Skye.

The first collection on Solu by Gill and Geraint celebrates the unique creations that they jointly produce. The focus is on the magical ethereality of the creatures they encounter with the outcome being surreal and abstract colourful projections of what goes on under the water line.

These photographs are colourful, eye-catching and completely unusual and as with all collections on Solu, are Limited-Edition and exclusive to Solu.

The photographs are printed to order and mounted with a signature, edition number and are accompanied with a certificate of authenticity.

Gill and Geraint

Gill Williams and Geraint Ashton Jones are two photographers with years of experience in the industry. Based on the Isle of Skye, in March 2019 they started a collaborative project titled Below the Skye Line.

Below the Skye Line was created with the aim of capturing the underwater environment, its inhabitants and the delicate eco system found in the waters on and around the Isle of Skye.

We are proud to work with Solu to bring you our first exclusive collection; a study of jellyfish, capturing both the grace and beauty of these wonderful creatures that are seen by many but understood by few.

One of the key aims of the project is to grow an awareness of the underwater beauty that is so often out of sight and how fragile the balance of sustainability is.  With a mix of underwater landscape photography and macro photography the essential ecosystem' s of the kelp forests, colourful jellyfish and mussels or tiny nudibranch are captured undisturbed in their natural environment.

Gill, a hugely experienced diver, uses her skills to capture the raw images, often in waters with strong tides running or laden with heavily coloured peat water that restricts visibility.  Working with either the natural light or with light Gill has added via strobes, Geraint then balances the images and uses contrast, shadow and highlights to create the final enigmatic and otherworldly photograph.
